Eric Dabancourt, a multi-talented French artist, has traced a remarkable artistic journey by exploring various forms of expression. Originally from Mantes-la-Jolie, he developed a passion for drawing and painting from a very young age. This inclination led him to continue his studies in Applied Arts, where he honed his skills to design advertising campaigns. However, his creative journey was not yet complete.
Over the years, Eric Dabancourt has immersed himself in the world of engraving, discovering the pleasure of digging into the material and exploring the nuances of ink. This period of his life was marked by experimentation, where he played with the techniques of sparing and intaglio to create works rich in texture and depth.
Each brushstroke of Indian ink on the thick white paper is a creative dance, a dialogue between the artist and the material. The lines emerge from the black, engraved with precision in the ink, to create enigmatic shapes, between abstraction and figuration. The striking contrasts between deep black and open white spaces bring to life works that are both mysterious and timeless.
